Augusta, GA - Entered into rest Saturday, December 31, 2022 at her residence, Mrs. Margaret McLaughlin Douglas, 91, loving wife of 55 years to the late John H. Douglas.
Mrs. Douglas was born on August 4, 1931 in Savannah, Georgia to the late James Joseph and Margaret Crotty McLaughlin. She was a 1950 graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy. She married her beloved husband on June 23, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Savannah. They moved to Augusta in 1964. She was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. She was a founding member and past Irish Lady of the Year of the Irish American Heritage Society. She was past president of the St. Mary on the Hill School Parent Teacher Organization and past president of the Aquinas High School Boosters Club. She was a past member of the Camellia Garden Club. She embodied faith, love, kindness and grace at every phase of her life.
Other family members include a daughter, Deborah Douglas Hudson; sons, Daniel Jordan (Ann) Douglas, Sr., Michael McLaughlin Douglas, Patrick Joseph (Maggie) Douglas, Sr., Brian Vincent (Catherine) Douglas, Terence Brady (Beth) Douglas, Sr.; grandchildren, Maura McLaughlin Dial (Brandon), Angela Douglas Hood (Scott), Alison Douglas Hawkins (Andrew), Mary Douglas Klimas (Matthew), Margaret Douglas Williams (Andrew), John Knox Douglas (Ashley), Patrick Joseph Douglas Jr., Denis Crotty Douglas (Kirsten), Michael Brendan Douglas (Katie), Brigid Douglas Jones (Jeff), Joseph Francis Douglas, Kevin Augustine Douglas, Erin Douglas Safford (Justin), Patrick Palmer Douglas (Molly), Catherine Jane Douglas, Terence Brady Douglas Jr., Andrew Joseph Douglas, John Carlisle Douglas; and thirty-two great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son, John Stephen Douglas and her grandson, Daniel Jordan Douglas, Jr.
The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 4, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ross, celebrant. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The Vigil for the Deceased (Rosary), will be held Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and the family will receive friends immediately following.
