Margaret Wright Freeman

Augusta, GA – Margaret Wright Freeman, 96, entered into rest on Friday, July 14, 2023.

She was born November 8, 1926, in Colfax Township in Rutherford County, NC. She attended Ellenboro High School where she played on the basketball team. After graduation she was employed at Rutherford County Welfare office. Settling in Augusta, she was employed by the Civil Service at the signal towers at Fort Gordon where she met many lifelong friends. She was a member of Cliffwood Presbyterian Church for many years before moving to Columbia County. She enjoyed playing cards, conversations, and field trips with her friends at Oaks of Evans Nursey Home. She loved being surrounded by friends and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who never met a stranger.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bill Echols officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Margaret is preceded in death by her two sisters: Mary Wright and Geneva Groome and her parents: Miles and Meldonia Wright. Survivors are Gail (Wayne) Connor and Thomas (Renee) Freeman; granddaughter: Anna Freeman and grandson: Brian Connor; nephew: Milton Groome and very good friends: Billie Drake and Ann Spence.
