Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, July 17, 2022, Mrs. Margie Holloway Candler, 93, wife of the late Albert Strother Candler, Sr.

Margie was born in McCormick, SC. A longtime resident of Augusta, she was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and the Jane Wells Sunday School class. A retired cosmetologist, owning her own hair salon for many years. Margie was an excellent cook and baker and was known for her macaroni and cheese. She was a member of the Pallet and Porcelain Guild, a passion she shared with her husband. She enjoyed gifting friends and family her hand painted memories at holidays and special occasions. Margie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Family members include her daughter, Lynn Powell (Lee) of Augusta, son: Bert Candler of Augusta, grandson: Bobby Lide (Traci), great grandchildren: Ainsley and Ian, sisters: Shirley Baker (Bill) and Jean Lagroon (Ansel) and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 64 years, Margie was preceded in death by her brothers James Holloway and Donald Holloway.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Broome officiating. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick, SC. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. The family kindly requests masks for those in attendance and the observance of social distancing guidelines.
