Margie Collins

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, Mrs. Marjorie Irene Bird Collins, 85, loving wife of 62 years to the late Jerry Gene Collins.
Marjorie was born on January 30, 1938, to the late George W. and Mary Lou Bird of Metter, GA. A longtime resident of Augusta, then Martinez, she worked as a substitute teacher for Richmond County Schools until she found her passion in cosmetics, working at J.B. White but retiring from Macy’s in 2003. She had many customers that she loved and became dear friends.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Bird and Walter Bird, Jr. Family members include her children: Leisha Schuckers (Lane), Robert Collins, and Gene Collins; grandchildren: Bill O’Nan (Brad), Beth (David) Scruggs, Rachel Mobley (Ty), Jon Oates (Kayla), Steven Collins and nine great-grandchildren; sister Louise Lanier and sister-in-law Martha Bird, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Marjorie loved God and her family. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as Nana to everyone. She loved vacationing in the mountains with her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Southeast Hospice, Dr. Schmidt, Christel, Deanna, and Kayla for all their professional care.

The funeral service will be Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10:00 A.M.) in the Bellevue Chapel. Because of the hot weather, the family asks that everyone dress in casual attire.
