Marguerite Philpot Thompson

Marguerite Philpot Thompson, 85, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, at Givens Estates in Asheville, NC.
 
Marguerite was born on December 10, 1938, in Augusta, GA to Mae Bowles Philpot and William Kuhlke Philpot. She grew up in Augusta and attended Richmond Academy, Mary Washington and The University of Georgia. She, later, received a master’s degree in education at Augusta College.
 
Marguerite was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 25 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta and Arden Presbyterian Church. She served on the mission field, with Samaritan’s Purse, in Mexico and Peru. She was an avid chef, dog lover and bridge player.
 
Marguerite is survived by her brother Michael Philpot, son Cleveland Thompson IV (Chip), daughter-in-law Melanie Snow Thompson, and grandchildren Cleveland Thompson V (Quin) and Christina Snow Thompson. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
 
A graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on March 2, 2024, 2:00 PM at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta. All who knew her are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
