Grovetown, GA – Passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Marie Louise Poirier Palmer, 75, at PruittHealth-Evans. Marie was born May 11, 1948 in Brockton, Massachusetts.
She is predeceased by her husband: Donald Palmer; parents: Anna-Belle C. and Louis Poirier; brothers: Dennis H. Poirier, Norman L. Poirier and Paul G. Poirier and sister: Jeanette F. Hebert.
Marie is survived by her son: Greg Palmer; sister and brother-in-law: Elaine N. and John R. Gilgis, brothers: John R. Poirier and Leo F. Scott; sisters-in-law: Laura Poirier (wife of Dennis) and Sally Poirier (wife of Paul) and her aunt: Dolores Covell (sister of Anna-Belle).
Marie graduated from Brockton High School in the top 10 of her class. She went onto Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts and Augusta State University where she majored in education. She excelled there, making the Dean’s List each semester, all four years.
Always a hard worker, she put herself through college, working at the lunch counter at the Brockton Public Market. Her hard work and dedication to her studies paid off when she graduated from college Magna Cum Laude. Her first new car was a Chevrolet Camaro!
Marie was employed with the Richmond County School System from 1988 as a teacher. She retired in 2012.
Marie, a faithful member of Answers Community Church, was beloved by all who knew her. She adored the teaching, the fellowship, and the numerous friends she made there. Marie participated in the many activities offered by the church. The men, women, and children will miss her deeply.
Family and friends would like to thank the staff of PruittHealth-Evans, staff at Doctor’s Hospital Emergency Room, and the 4th floor nursing staff of Doctor’s Hospital and PruittHealth-Hospice staff for the care and compassion they showed Marie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Marvin R. Patrick officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to Answers Community Church, 4495 Columbia Road #3, Martinez, Georgia 30907.
