AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at her residence, Mrs. Marilyn F. Helwig, 76, loving and devoted wife for 58 years of William H. Helwig.

Mrs. Helwig was a native of Brooklyn, NY but had resided in Augusta since 1984. She was a homemaker and always put others before herself. She helped anybody in need. Mrs. Helwig loved her family and enjoyed having all the family together. She loved to travel, enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She also loved her dog Gretchen.

Family members in addition to her husband include her sons: Raymond W. Helwig and wife Missy of Martinez, Wayne J. Helwig and wife Debra of Statesboro; daughter: Kathy A. Young and husband Jimmy of Hephzibah, GA; sister: Arlene Petters of Stoney Brook, Long Island, NY; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Squires and the staff of Augusta Oncology for the loving care that they showed during her illness

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. Interment will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11: 30 A.M in Georgia Veteran Cemetery, Glennville, GA.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2602 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
