Martinez, GA – Marilyn Kesler York, 75, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 16th, surrounded by loving family and caregivers.

Born in Carnesville, Georgia on August 5, 1947, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruby Redmond Kesler and was a 1965 graduate of Franklin County High School.

She moved to Augusta after marrying Teddy York in 1967. Marilyn worked for many years as a secretary to Drs. Cleckley, Thigpen, and Moss at Psychiatric Associates. She logged many volunteer hours in various Columbia County schools while her children attended and even after both had graduated, most often through the Good News Club at Bel Air Elementary.

Marilyn was an active member of Abilene Baptist Church for over thirty years, volunteering many hours for VBS, Mother’s Day Out, and especially for the Broad Street Ministry.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Teddy York; daughter Melanie York Shepherd and husband Sandy of Savannah; son Wesley York and wife Blakely of Winder; and four grandsons: Edwin Shepherd, Ashton York, Collin York, and Embry York. She is also survived by her brother Travis Kesler (Cheryl Kesler) of Spring, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Abilene Cemetery in Martinez, Georgia, with Rev. Bill Harrell officiating.

The family is extremely grateful for the skill, professionalism, and kindness of both Visiting Angels and Regency SouthernCare Hospice.
