Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, July 17, 2023, Mr. Mark Lawson Detchemendy, 74, loving husband of Gloria Tavares Detchemendy.

Mark was born in El Paso, Texas to Edward and Mary Margaret Detchemendy and one of 7 siblings. He was a Navy veteran. He was a devoted husband to wife Gloria of 51 years and loving father to his 8 children and 15 grandchildren.

Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Melissa Detchemendy (Crystal), Michelle Patel (Vipul), Joshua Detchemendy, Luke Detchemendy (Bridget), Abraham Detchemendy (Katie), Noah Detchemendy, Jeremiah Detchemendy (Michelle), Edward Detchemendy (Brittany); grandchildren: Cara Chimento, Brittany Edmunds, Oscar Detchemendy, Ella Detchemendy, Maialen Patel, Maeve Detchemendy, Shy Patel, Liam Kennedy, Oliver Detchemendy, Magnolia Detchemendy, Valin Patel, Lawson Detchemendy, Canon Detchemendy and Mila Detchemendy; siblings: Tom Detchemendy (Linda), Mike Detchemendy (Danella), Cecelia Gillahan (Gary), Julia Compoc (the late Ted), and Melissa Butler (Walter). He is predeceased by his sister: Beverly.

The family will receive friends at 10 am Friday, July 21, 2023, with a Mass following at 11:00 A.M. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Fr. John Johnson as celebrant. Mark was a talented artist and painting was his passion. Since he filled our world with beauty let’s memorialize him by wearing your favorite color to the service.
