Martha Lee Edelin Anderson of Augusta, GA entered into rest with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Born in Emmanuel County in 1927, Martha was the daughter of Frank and Rosa Lee Bishop Edelin. She earned her nursing degree at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA, then served as a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. Mrs. Anderson later worked as a nurse at several Augusta area hospitals before retiring from the Graniteville Company where she served as an industrial nurse.

Wife of Frank W. Anderson for 49 years, she was mother to four children. Mrs. Anderson was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and the Trinity Sunday School Class. She enjoyed serving in various church capacities including organizing Trinity Class activities; supporting the implementation of a grief ministry; serving as treasurer; participating in prayer ministries; assisting in communion preparation; serving in the flower ministry; and caring for babies in the nursery. She was a true “Martha,” always ready to lovingly serve those who needed care. Known as a gracious hostess and a true Southern gentlewoman, Martha loved gardening and making her surroundings beautiful. She consistently ministered to others in her later years through her card ministry.

Preceded in death by her husband Frank W. Anderson; daughter Wanda Anderson Boswell and granddaughter Elizabeth Boswell. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her children: Sharon A. Carlton of Boone, NC, Frank (Chip) Anderson, Jr. of Augusta, GA, Terry A. Seagle (Jim) of Evans, GA; son-in-law: Ronnie Boswell of Augusta, GA, Grandchildren include Brittnee Lee Elder (Stephen) of Atlanta, GA; Brannon Boswell (Glenda) of Evans, GA; Rebekah Boswell Miller (Brett) of Augusta, GA; Avery Anderson Durbin (Todd) of Macon, GA; Jordan Anderson (Rebekah) of Birmingham, AL; Sam Carlton of Richmond, VA; Rusty Seagle (Kim) of Fairbanks, AK and Chip Seagle of Calhoun, GA.

She was the delighted great-grandmother of 10 great-grand-children: Eli Boswell of Evans, GA; Maggie, Hannah and Lizzie Durbin of Macon, GA; Hudson, Holland, and Judah Anderson and Hayden Collins of Birmingham, AL; Elijah and Elliot Seagle of Fairbanks, AK. Martha also loved her many nieces and nephews. She was especially close to Mary Ann Ward of Augusta, GA; Belinda Shaw (Randy) of Griffin, GA; and Lisa Profitt Nystrom of Fries, VA.

Her family wants to thank friends who visited, sent cards and loved her throughout her last years and her wonderful doctors and caregivers, Carla Burkey, Amy Crawford, Martha Evans and Christy Ragan.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Trinity/Redeemer Sunday School Class. A live stream of the funeral service may be view by clicking here.
