Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, March 8, 2012, Mrs. Mary Martha Atkins Tiller, age 87, wife of the late N.J. “Buddy” Tiller.

Mrs. Tiller was a native and life long resident of the North Augusta, SC and graduated from North Augusta High School in 1942. She worked at Augusta Foundry then went on to work at Warren Road Elementary in the lunchroom for 20 years. Mrs. Tiller was a resident of National Hills since 1962. She loved being around kids especially during her job. Mrs. Tiller had a lively spirit and was loved by everyone. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Lake Park Baptist Church.

Family members include son: Jerry Tiller (Katherine) of Appling; daughter: Brenda T. Vickers (Larry) of Martinez; grandchild: Shelby Vickers; brothers: Charles Atkins and Ronnie Atkins; sister: Hazel Coleman. Mrs. Tiller was preceded in death by sisters: Frances Parham and Anna Lee Chavous.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Wes Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, North Augusta, SC. Pallbearers will be Tommy Reynolds, Skip Stewart, Aaron Stewart, Ron Carter, Bradley Lynch and Broc Lynch.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens's Research Hospital, 501 St,. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Wilde for their loving care of their mother.
