Martha Ann Mays

Martha Ann Mays, 85, died peacefully Monday, July 15, 2024.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Abilene Baptist Church Christian Life Center with Rev. William F. Harrell officiating. Family will receive friends following the service.

Family members include: one son, Earl (Angela) Welch; stepson James Hughly Mays; step-daughter Susan Mays Bowman; grandchildren, Lauren (Andrew) Birch; Hannah Welch; Heidi (Dennis) Gunby; Ali Mays; Hughlon Mays; Cody (Christopher Mansell) Bowman; brother, Johnny (Judy) Neal; nephew Bryant (Cheryl) Neal; Kathryn Bonham; great-niece Kylie Bonham; great-nephew Dylan Bonham.

Martha Ann was born on Christmas Day, 1938 in Swainsboro, GA. She began her working career in bookkeeping and accounting in Macon, GA then transferred to Augusta, GA. She enjoyed sewing, doll collecting, and gardening. She loved rocking the babies in the Abilene Baptist Church nursery where she served faithfully for over 30 years. She had a quick smile and a kind word for all she met. She was an attentive listener and gentle provider of wisdom.
