Born in Mineola, NY, August 11, 1942, she graduated from Hunter College High School of New York. She was an artist who had a fantastic eye for details. She began her interest in art as a child, and later in life began attending classes taught at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art in Augusta, GA. While attending these courses, she developed skills working with many different forms of artistic media. Martha would then attend Augusta College to further develop her artistic skills. While attending Augusta College, she became the Director for their Child Care Center, and would later retire as the Director for the Child Care Center at the Medical College of Georgia. She was able to share her artistic talents with her children, many of the children left in her care, and her grandchildren. She shared her eye for nature, people, and the beauty of God’s creation. Her vision allowed us all to see the little details in life. In her retirement years she would spend them with John, continuing to develop her skills in the arts and share them with her family, friends, and surrounding communities of Haywood County, North Carolina.
The family will hold a private service at later date in Waynesville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art in Augusta, GA.
