Marvin H. Coursey
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, July 1, 2013, Mr. Marvin H. Coursey, Jr., 91, husband of the late Marjorie Hammack Coursey.
Mr. Coursey was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army 30th Infantry Division in the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach. He retired in 1988 from Phoenix Oil Company. His passion was the music ministry that he led in many area churches over the years, the last being New Heights Baptist from which he retired after 15 years. The family delights in knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior and is singing with the angels.

Family members include sons: Marvin H. Coursey (Lorene) of Dandridge, TN, Robert S. Coursey (Priscilla) of Martinez; daughter: Elizabeth C. Booth (Scott) of Kennewick, WA; grandchildren: Brian Coursey (Julie), Angie Spencer (Tim), Megan and Hannah Booth; great grandchildren: Lauren and Davis Coursey, Taylor Ann, Dallas, Carson, and Cody Spencer; brother: Robert W. Coursey; sisters: Helen Rhodes and the late Jewell Broome.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Lloyd Greene and Rev. Charles Broome officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jim Mobley, Jack Edwards, Hugh Rhodes III, Greg Hammack, Jason Jones, and Larry Maioriello.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, 105 Camilla Avenue, Augusta, GA 30907 or to the Methodist Children’s Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
