Augusta, GA – Mary Anna Buckley passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Trinity Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was a native Augustan and a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of Hugh P. Buckley and Gladys S. Buckley. Mary Anna graduated from Mount St. Joseph's Catholic School as Salutatorian and attended Augusta College. She was a charter member of the Cherokee Garden Club, a lifelong member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary, the National Council of Catholic Women and the Irish American Heritage Association. Her professional years were spent at the Georgia Railroad Bank as Head Teller, finishing her years of service at the Daniel Village Branch where she amassed a large group of friends and clients. She retired from there and spent her remaining years in devoted service to the care of her Mother who lived to the age of 101.
She is survived by her cousins, Peggy Lovelace and husband Tom, Lois Brooks, Ann Baynham and close friend Kathy Gibson. She enjoyed family celebrations and holiday get-togethers with her cousins and their families who were her extended family.
The family would like to thank all the physicians and caregivers who helped maintain a quality of life she could enjoy during her last years, especially to Doctors William Neumann and Robert Shay and care giver Pat Washington.
A memorial mass will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Father Tom Murphy officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church 1430 Monte Sano Ave Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
