Mary Ethel Atwood

 Martinez, GA - Began her greatest journey on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Mrs. Mary Ethel Atwood, 93, loving wife of Hubert Kenneth Atwood.

Mary was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and was a charter member of West Acres Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, church hostess, and church caterer for over 50 years. She had a servant’s heart, and was affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank nurse Shakaira Brown, Trinity Hospice, and caregivers Susan Baker, Betsy Thompson, and the Rawlins Family for all of their loving and professional care.

 Family members include her daughters: Jenny Atwood Landrum and Elizabeth Atwood Gibson; grandchildren: Sara Gibson, Jon Landrum (Heather), and Mark Landrum (Kysle); great-grandchildren: Emma, Kaleb, Aaron, Finn, Laralei “Monkey”, and Kara; brother-in-law: Carl Spires; nephew: Doug Spires (Juliann); and niece: Lisa Spires. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Inez Wells, daughter, Claire Lynne Atwood, son-in-law, Wendell Gibson, sister, Nell Spires, and grandson, Matthew Gibson.

 A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Larry Harmon and Pastor John Kilpatrick officiating.
