Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, August 12, 2014, Mrs. Mary Canon Dickson, 90, wife of 45 years to the late William Shelton Dickson, Jr.

Mrs. Dickson was a native of Savannah, GA but lived in Augusta since she was 18 years old. She began teaching at Sacred Heart School in 1961 and continued teaching at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School, a career that lasted 38 years. As avid proponent of education she took great pride in her student’s accomplishments.

Family members include her son: William Shelton Dickson III and wife Emily; daughters: Julie Dickson, Sue Dickson; grandchildren: Bridgitte Araba, Kester Cockrell-Chau, Lincoln M. Russell, Stephen Reid Pate; and great grandchildren: Jacob, Allister, Maysa, Kenza, Miah, and Shelton. Her brothers, Charles and Billy Canon, precede her in death.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Lindsey celebrant. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
