Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, November 17, 2013, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Blackston, 78, wife of 64 years to Mr. Aaron Blackston.
Mrs. Blackston was a native and life long resident of Augusta. She worked as a Supervisor for Homestead Draperies. Mrs. Blackston was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as “Big Nanny” to all who knew her and will be remembered for her love of flowers and her good home cooking.
Family members in addition to her husband include daughter: Vera Yvonne Story; honorary daughter: Sandra Blackwell; granddaughter: Trina Story; great grandchildren: Camrey Bledsoe and Chad “C.J.” Bass, Jr; and one great great grandchild: Tristan Marquardt.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Kenneth Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Bass, Jr., Barrett Hughes, Jeremy Nobles, Gerald Jennings, Aaron Keough and A.J. Detwiler.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at 190 Knox Abbott Drive Suite 301, Casey, SC 29033.
