Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Westwood Nursing Home, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Smith, 79, wife of the late Cecil Smith and the late Carl L. Chalker.
Mrs. Smith was born in Gibson, GA but had resided in Augusta since 1965. She was a member of New Hope Worship Center and choir member. Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress for Trooper Inc.
Family members include her son: Gary B. Chalker, of Augusta; grandson: George Lee Chalker of Augusta; step-granddaughter: Ann Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; step-great grandchildren: Tony Williams, Crystal Ann Vause, and a very special friend: Yvonne McKinnon.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Rich Bowen officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Gibson, GA. Pallbearers will be Greg Milburn, Allen Chalker, Mike Leaptrotte, Greg Cantrell, Joel Bryant, and Paul Scott.
