Augusta, GA – Mary L. Millner, beloved wife of Clifford D. Millner, entered into rest February 25, 2014.

Born June 3, 1941 in Calvary, KY to the late Fowler and Melvina Spalding Abell, Mary grew up in KY. As a military wife, she traveled extensively before settling in Augusta, where she worked at University Hospital and with the office of Dr. Fishbein.

Mary loved to laugh and to make other people laugh. She had a quick wit and caring spirit. If you were loved by her, you were loved well. She was a voracious reader and passed along the love of books to her children. She valued family and friends and considered motherhood her greatest calling.

She is survived by her children Betty (F.P.) Meehan, Bill (Donna) Head and step-children Michael (Claire) Millner, Myles Millner and Angela (David) McDaniel and five grandchildren, Pamela Head, Jeffrey (Jiaoyan) Head, Kyle Millner, Rachel and Mark McDaniel and one great-grandchild, Elena Lou Head. She is also survived by siblings Pat (Joan) Abell, Sheila (Paul) Williams, Lawrence (Diane) Abell, Fowler Jr. (Martha) and Libby (James) Barlow and sister-in-law, Christine Browne as well as a host of nieces and nephews – all from KY. She is predeceased by siblings James Mark, Tom and Cecelia.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Father John West celebrant and Rev. Sandy Turner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gazebo Fund at The Place at Martinez, 409 Pleasant Home Road, Augusta, GA 30907, in appreciation for the care and comfort they provided.
