Mrs. Mary Margaret Hillen Johnson

Augusta, GA - On Thursday, August 29th 2013, Mrs. Mary Margaret Hillen Johnson, wife of the late Neil Arden Johnson, entered into rest peacefully. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother of five.

Mrs. Johnson was born of Irish parents in England. She graduated from the Royal London University with a degree in Physical Therapy and soon after moved from England to Augusta to work as a physical therapist at University Hospital. Soon after their initial blind date her husband Neil sold his prized airplane to pay for the engagement ring that he gave his future wife. Mrs. Johnson was an active member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Neil who passed away in 2006.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by sons James, David and his wife Glynis, Mark, and Paul; a daughter Suzanne and her husband Ted; grandchildren Bradley, Katie, Seth, Liza, Morgan, Justin and Megan.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Thomas Poteet & Son followed by a procession to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM with Fr. Gerald Ragan celebrant. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

The family gives special thanks to the staff at Kentwood Extended Care for their years of love and care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta GA 30904, in the name of Neil and Mary.
