Augusta, GA – It was a sad but happy day to let you know that Mary Katherine Mosner has departed this life to join her Lord in heaven on the 18th of November 2022. Kathy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in May of 2011 and had been bed bound for the last four years.

Kathy was born in Cumberland Maryland to Joseph and Margaret McDade on February 16, 1938. She graduated from Catholic Girls Central High School in 1956. She married Michael Mosner in Augusta of 1956. Kathy became a military wife as she and Mike spent the next 12 years with the US Air Force and traveled from Bitburgh AFB, Germany, Amarillo AFB, Texas, Nellis AFB, Nevada, Clark AFB, Philippine Islands, Homestead AFB, Florida, McGuire AFB, New Jersey. Following military service Mike worked for IBM in Maryland and the family moved to Augusta in 1979. Kathy worked with the Medical College of Georgia, Greenblatt Library, intra library loan department, retiring in 2000.

A member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, she volunteered as a minister of Holy Communion as well as alter cloth ministry. Following her retirement, her favorite time was spent at the Saint Mary’s senior center playing bridge with her friends Sheila Wilson, Mary Freeman, and Linda cook. The monthly Mass and lunches were also a must. As a member of the Irish American Heritage Society her family was honored as Irish Family of the year in 2015.

Traveling to Bermuda, Ireland, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, and Italy were a big part of her retirement.

She is survived by her husband Mike following 66 years of marriage. Six children; Michelle Miller, Charleston, SC, Marguerite Mosner, Augusta, GA, Marie Wheatley (Sam), Hilton Head Island, SC, Melissa Hancock, Atlanta, GA, Michael Jr. (Beth), Lexington, SC and Melinda Dalton (Brendan), Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren; Eric Miller (Francesca), Lauren Oren (Elliot), Marguerite Claire DuTeau (Matthew) Samantha Goeddel (Stephen), Michael Bennett Mosner, Katherine, Neil and Emory Hancock, and Patrick Dalton. Greatgrandchildren; Dean and Katherine Oren, Luisa Miller. Two sisters; Dorothy Winner, Cumberland, Maryland, Mary Margaret Sheetz, Ridgley, West Virginia and brother Dr. Joseph McDade, Rome, Georgia. Kathy’s constant companion, her Bichon Frise “Murphy”. Special friends and companions; Lyn, Abigail, Juliana, Catherine, Amelia, Andrew, Christy Wilson, Gracie, and Elaine.

The family would like to thank the staff of Promedica Health for all their excellent care especially Dr. Andrew Van Alstine, staff nurses Christy Wilsoin, Tina Matteo and Rick Pate, and CNA’s Melinda Carter, Holly Burnaum, Danielle Freeman, and Liz Ross, and especially Ashanti Jenkins. Ashanti considered Kathy as a member of her own family and gave exceptional care.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary on the Hill at 11:00 A.M. on the 6th of December 2022. A visitation prior to Mass will be held in the St. Mary’s narthex. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Columbarium following Mass. Celebration of Kathy’s life luncheon will be held at 2504 Pinebluff Court, Augusta following burial.
