Augusta, GA – Entered into rest with her family by her side on Saturday, May 11, 2013, Mary Pearl Martin, 80, wife of the late William Leo Martin.

Mrs. Martin was born to the late Ambrose and Lizzie Purgason in 1932 in Carroll County, GA. She was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. She was an office manager at Westover Memorial Park and retired in 1998. Mrs. Martin was a wonderful example of a woman who kept the faith and loved her family will all of her heart.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: From now on there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8

She is survived by her four children: Michael Martin (Karen) of Buford, GA, Melanie Villemain (Dale) of Evans, GA, Melinda Osment (Scott) of Martinez, GA, Mark Martin of Hephzibah, GA; 10 grandchildren: Wesley Martin of Augusta, GA, Ryan Martin of Denver, CO, April Villemain Nunnallee (Brian) of Martinez, GA, Scott Villemain (Jessica) of Martinez, GA, Joshua Harris of Martinez, GA, Allen Harris of Martinez, GA, Austin Osment of Douglasville, GA, Mark Martin, Jr. of Hephzibah, GA, Abi Martin of Hephzibah, GA, Eve Martin of Hephzibah, GA; and 4 great-grandchildren: Brice and Kate Nunnallee, Hudson and Blakely Villemain and soon to arrive, Collins Pearl Villemain. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her 4 sisters, 5 brothers and her beloved mother-in-law, Mertie Byrd Martin.

A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM. Her son, Rev. Michael Martin, Pastor at Austell United Methodist Church in Austell, GA, will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
