Mary Elizabeth Stoops

Martinez, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Stoops, 73, loving wife of Mr. James L. Stoops.

Mary was a longtime resident of Georgia and received her Specialist in Education from the Augusta College while teaching as an ESL teacher at Glenn Hills Elementary School. She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education after teaching for over 35 years. After retiring, Mary especially enjoyed being involved with the swim aerobics programs at the Family Y on Wheeler Road, traveling about the country in a RV with her husband and spending time with her grandkids.

Family members in addition to her husband Jim, include her daughter: Kathy Voshell (David); son: James Stoops, III; grandchildren: Michael and Daniel Voshell; sister: Joan Jurkowski and brothers: Jim Jurkowski and Paul Jurkowski. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth Jurkowski.
