Lexington, SC – Moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, Mrs. Mary Tant Waters Arnold, wife of Michael C. Arnold. Mrs. Arnold was preceded to heaven by her parents Mary Jane Waters and Revan Freeman Waters.

Family members in addition to her husband include son: Roger Tant and wife Dianne; daughter: Angela Key and husband David; stepsons: Patrick Arnold and wife Becky, Mickey Arnold; stepdaughter: Shannon Blackston and husband Russell; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

Mary’s goal in life was to make sure that you and everyone she was in contact with knew about her Savior and what He meant to her and how He could change their life forever. She loved her church and church family. She enjoyed working in her church and served as Sabbath School and Vesper Director for many years. She loved to sing and play the piano and we all enjoyed listening

She had an entrepreneurial spirit instilled in her by both of her parents. Her mother built several houses doing most of the work herself. Her daddy owned Rip’s Body Shop on Reynolds Street until he died in 1978. Mary as a young women owned Tant’s Grocery on Sandbar Ferry Road. She then went on to college and acquired her Bachelors Degree and pursed a career in insurance. She was the first women in Augusta to own her own agency and she earned a CPIW designation. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines and was a shoe model.

Mrs. Arnold was a native of Augusta but resided in Columbia, SC for the last several years.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bill Hilley officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

A memorial service will also be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church and memorial contributions may be made to Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 243 Riverchase Way, Lexington, SC 29072.
