Maude Walker
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Maude G. Walker, 86, entered into rest surrounded by her family after a brief illness on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was the devoted wife to her late, beloved husband of 46 years, Ray O. Walker.
Maude was a lifelong resident of Richmond County, she was the youngest daughter of the late Barney and Lillie Greiner and proudly continued the family’s heritage of farming and raising cattle on her parent’s land until leaving to meet her Savior. Maude truly loved her church, the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, and was actively involved in its ministries up to the time of her passing. A lover of all of God’s creation, she had an intense passion for life and compassion for all of those who were sick, hungry, or in need. The consummate caregiver, she tirelessly gave of herself to help ease the suffering of others.
Whether from her kitchen at home or at her church, her special gift was to prepare delicious home-style meals; no one ever left her presence hungry and without receiving a warm hug and smile. Maude was the loving matriarch of her family and it showed in her devotion to her husband “Ray”, her sons and daughters-in-law, her grandchildren, extended family, church, and myriad of friends.
She is survived by her sons: Barney William Walker (Cindy) of Columbia, SC and Ray Neal Walker (Debbie) of Augusta; granddaughter: Lisa Michelle Walker of Augusta; grandson: Ray Daniel Walker (Rachel); and great grandson: Vincent Alexander Walker of Jacksonville, FL.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with Pastor David Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
