Augusta, GA – Maxine Straughn, precious wife of Elsworth “Easy” Straughn, went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2015
Mrs. Straughn was formerly employed by Three Sisters Stores at Southgate Shopping Center and Jean Nicole of Augusta Mall, she was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and Dabney Sunday School Class, and volunteered at the church food bank for many years.
Survivors include her beloved husband Easy Sraughn, 6 grandchildren: Davis Griffin (Mary Ann) of Cincinnati, OH, Brian Eldridge (Sara) of Brownsburg, IN, Barbara Harris (Marlin) of Newburgh, IN, Drew Griffin (Jennifer) of Tampa, FL, Wade Griffin (Roxana) of Wesley Chapel, FL and Krystal Vogtner (Zack) of Atlanta, GA; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by 3 step-children: Bob Straughn of North Augusta, SC, Woody Straughn (Wanda) of Lexington, NC, Shelia Garrett (Ray) of Lexington, NC; sister: Louise Marks of Fayetteville, NC and one brother: Gene Birmingham (Alice) of Polkton, NC. Mrs. Straughn was preceded in death by both of her sons: William R. “Bill” Griffin and Barry W. Griffin; brother: WC Birmingham and step-daughter: Ann Straughn.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Todd Wiggins and Dr. Gordon Robinson officiating. Burial will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. in Griffin and Old Davis Cemetery in Polkton, NC.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3045 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA 30906.
