Melvin Lee Breithaupt

Grovetown, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Mr. Melvin Lee Breithaupt, 94, loving husband of 43 years to Mrs. Alice Morris Breithaupt.

Melvin was born in Wharton, Texas. He enlisted in the US Army at 18 years old and served for 21 years, settling in Augusta, Georgia. Melvin then worked for Proctor and Gamble as a mechanic for another 21 years. He was a faithful member of West Acres Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making clocks and furniture. Melvin was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

Family members in addition to his wife, include his children: Judy B. Bernstein (David), Perry Wayne Breithaupt; stepson: Robert Eugene Edwards, Jr. (Patti); stepdaughter: Vickie Edwards Ryles (Royce); grandchildren: Benjamin, David, Rebecca, Josh, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 25 years, Mrs. Jean Tomblin Breithaupt and his son: Terry Breithaupt.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM, prior to the service.
