Mica French

Mica Lee (Miller) French, aged 59, passed away at her family home in Augusta on Monday, July 24th, 2023. Mica was born on September 13th, 1963, in LaMarque, Texas, to Max and Melva Miller. Early in her life, her family relocated to Augusta, where she grew up and graduated from Westside High School.

Mica was a devoted mother to four sons and dedicated her life to their upbringing and well-being. She later pursued higher education at Augusta Tech, earning a degree in computer science and utilizing her skills to work with a local non-profit organization in Augusta, focusing on data analysis for safe streets. In the early 2000s, Mica married the late Tracy French, a Professor of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, and she moved with her sons to Ithaca, New York, where she embraced her passions for photography, sailing, and geocaching. Throughout her life, Mica exemplified strong values of love for family, kindness, acceptance, a delightful sense of humor, and remarkable resilience.

Left to cherish her memory are her four loving sons: James P Sanders and his wife Na Lee; Joshua F Sanders, William A Sanders, and Wesley C Sanders and his wife Courtney, along with Mica's grandchildren Penelope, Baylor, and Ledger.

Mica is also survived by her brother, Marc (Linda), her sister Marci (Andrew), her cousin, Diane Schooley, stepchildren Trevor and Hannah, many nieces and nephews as well as her beloved mother, Melva. She was predeceased by her husband Tracy and her father, Max.

A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at 3:00 pm. The family will receive visitors in the church narthex from 2-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the Finger Lakes Land Trust at 202 East Court Street Ithaca, NY 14850.
