Michael Edward “Mike” Johnson
Evans, GA – Mr. Michael Edward “Mike” Johnson entered into rest on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Doctors Hospital after an extended illness.
Mike was born in 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He graduated from Hephzibah High School in 1969 where he played football, baseball and ran track. He was an avid golfer and he loved college football, especially his Georgia Bulldogs. Mike served six years in the Marine Reserves.
Surviving family members include his wife of 33 years: Gail King Johnson (Evans); son: Jeffrey B. Johnson; granddaughter: Jaeda Johnson (Orlando); brother: Mark Johnson (Carson) Evans; sister: Jerri Coleman (Bill) and several
nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother: Betty Beard Johnson and his father: John E. Johnson.
A memorial service will be Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Beth Sanders officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 5555 Hereford Farm Road, Evans, GA 30809.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
