Augusta GA - Entered into rest on Wednesday May 25, 2022, Michael Campbell Joyce, 93, loving husband of Gracie Long Joyce for 65 years.
Michael was born in Liverpool, England to Eric Joyce and Helen Reardon-Shepherd on Dec 21, 1928. He attended Worth and Downside schools in Stratton-on-the Fosse, Bath, England. At the age of 21, he moved to Guymon, OK to work on the Robbins Ranch as a cowboy. During the Korean Conflict, he became a naturalized citizen, then enlisted into the US Army and remained until the war was over. He worked in the airline industry for many years and retired after 31 years at Northwest Airlines as Senior Director of Line Maintenance. Mike was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Patrick Walsh council, #677. He was also a member of various civic organizations. Michael was a man of many interests, a voracious reader, a lover of history, genealogy, travel, music, sailing and fishing.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Gracie, son John Christopher Joyce, daughter Frances Blocker (Fred), grandsons Zane Corder, Joseph and Luke Blocker, a sister Patricia Schroder and niece Leonie Schroder, a cousin Diana Lawrence in the UK, a brother-in-law, Eugene Long and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 1:00pm at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Solomon Kaanan as celebrant. The family will receive friends for one hour before mass on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm. After Mass, interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or the Knights of Columbus, Patrick Walsh council, 1501 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.
