Michael Russ Parnell

Michael Russ Parnell entered Heaven’s Gates on Tuesday evening after a valiant battle. He is survived by his precious daughter Katie and the love of his life, Beverly. 

He was born in Flint Michigan on April 9, 1961, to Anita Mae and Michael John Parnell. Other family members survived by him include his sister: Cynthia Valdez; brothers: Derrick (Jodi) Parnell and Timothy Parnell; niece: Tiffany; nephews: Jeremy Valdez, Timothy Valdez and Sam Parnell Derrick Parnell, Jr. He is also survived by his best friend and family: Jack Mills; as well as his wonderful coworkers at Associated Credit Union, where he worked and held many different positions and helped others where he was needed. 

He served in the Army for fifteen years prior to his career in banking. He is proceeded in death by his mother and father. He spent the last year at Oaks of Evans Assisted Living Facility where he received the very best care and made many friends. The family would like to thank Southeast Hospice, Dr. Stephen Schmidt and the nurses and staff that cared for Russ. They would also like to thank The Oaks at Evans wonderful staff, friends and Mark Wilhelmi at the credit union. 

Russ was an amazing man with a kind and gentle spirit and was the best father to Katie and loved me so well. He was always willing to help anyone in need and he knew everyone by name. He never met a stranger. He was a man with unwavering faith and taught us about real love.

He loved so well and is now watching over us from Heaven. We will remember and cherish every moment that we had with Russ. “Because you loved me”

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors at 6:00 P.M. with Dr. Don Prosser officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
