Grovetown, GA – Michael Kenneth “Mike” Thompson passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Mike was born on January 29, 1959, to the late Cora Anne Prescott Thompson and Kenneth Elmer Thompson. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Huff Thompson; his daughters, Taylor Nicole Thompson and Sarah Kathryn Thompson; sisters Kathy Thompson Tyler (Larry) and Karen Lee Thompson Quinn; and his nieces and nephews.

Mike was a 1977 graduate of Westside High School and an alumnus of the University of Georgia. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially on the golf course. His love of golf led him to score at the Masters for 27 years. Mike recently retired after thirty years with the United States Postal Service.

The funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his church, Lewis Memorial UMC, with Rev. Beth Sanders and Rev. Eddie Bradford officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at the church for one hour before the service. Burial will be 4:00 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2017, at Westover Memorial Park.
