Mildred M. Franklin
Grovetown, GA – Mildred Mulherin Franklin, widow of the late William Chester Franklin, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 2, 2023, at home after an extended illness.
Born in Augusta, GA in 1940, the daughter of Anthony T. and Alice C. Mulherin, she graduated from Aquinas High School in 1958, attended Augusta College, and later completed her LPN training at Augusta Technical College.
Mildred devoted the next 22 years to caring for her three sons and her husband. In 1982 she went to work as a nurse at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta for 12 years. After retiring she brought her mother to live with her for the last nine years of Mrs. Mulherin’s life.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Tony Mulherin, Sr., her husband, William Chester Franklin, Sr., and her brother, William Henry Mulherin. She is survived by her sons: Anthony Derek Franklin, Sr. (Ru), William Chester Franklin, Jr. (Meloney), and Roy Patrick Franklin (Kristin); her grandchildren: Derek, Jr., Austin (Caitlyn), Nathan, Garrison, and Ethan Franklin, Lauren Oetjen (Tyler), Kaitlyn Montano (Matt) and Christina Bower; her great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Riley, Isaiah, Alice, William, Lyanna, Freya, Carter, Lilly and Colton; her two siblings: Anthony T. Mulherin, Jr. (Ana) and Mae Mulherin Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a devoted member of New Hope Worship Center. She also belonged to the New Hope Bride Class Bible Study and the OASIS Sunday School Class.
Mildred always knew that the greatest treasures that God had given her, other than Himself, were her three sons and those wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Scott Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, a private burial will take place at Westover Memorial Park.
