Monica Jane Von Plinsky

Oak Lawn, IL – Monica Jane Von Plinsky, entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2022, after an extended struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Monica was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 26, 1949 at Oliver General Hospital.

She is survived by Laurel A. Mirabella and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jonathan Von Plinsky, Andrew T. Von Plinsky and his wife Debra, Mark A. Von Plinsky and his wife JoAnn and Patricia Von Plinsky. 

Monica was the second daughter of Alexander H. Von Plinsky, Jr. and Eleanor B. (nee Paprocki) Von Plinsky and sister to Mary Catherine Von Plinsky, and Lt. Col. Alexander H. Von Plinsky, III, all who preceded her in death. 

Monica was loved by family and friends alike. As our sister she had/has a very positive affect on us and we miss her. She was proud to be an aunt to several nieces and nephews and greatly enjoyed visiting with them.  

Monica’s love was shared with many as she taught students over her decades-long teaching career. As a sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet, she served some of the needier communities with a love that took her to several schools in her time with the Sisters.

As a younger brother by 6½  years, I (Jonathan) didn’t realize how loving and kind Monica was until we were both adults. She was always willing to give of herself and will be remembered by me for that especially! I have spoken with several of her classmates from Sacred Heart School and Aquinas High School (Class of 1967) and Monica was always remembered with love.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. by Fr. Mike Ingram.

Our family will receive friends after the Mass in the church social hall.
