Monroe Gray Secord, Sr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, October 13, 2016, Mr. Monroe Gray Secord, Sr. 79, husband of Mrs. Mary Neesmith Secord.
Mr. Secord was born in Pineville KY, but spent most of his life in Evans. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with family. Mr. Secord served in the Georgia National Guard-Waynesboro Branch, worked as a television technician for 60 years, and was an avid motorcycle rider. He was passionate about working in his yard, and was fond of riding and taking “short cuts”, which always involved a longer trip and admiring the scenery. He was an active member of Abilene Baptist Church for 35 years, where he ran the sound system and camera for over 20 years.
Family members include his wife: Mary Neesmith Secord; children: Mary Jo Secord Sessum, Monty Secord and his wife Teresa Bailey Secord, Mark Secord; grandchildren: Autumn Secord, Ricky Sessum, Halie Jo Sessum, Allie Secord, Hanna Secord, Asa Secord; and great granddaughter: Kennedy Bradford.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 12:00 until the time of the funeral which will begin at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Terry Doss and Rev. Bill Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Abilene Baptist Cemetery in Martinez.
