Augusta, GA –Mr. Morris Fulmer, 90, departed from this life August 9, 2011. He was an Arkansas native and lived the majority of his life in Augusta. Mr. Fulmer was a WWII Veteran of Co. D, 30th Infantry, who fought throughout the European Theater and Africa to include: Algeria, Morocco, Sicily, Naples, Tunisia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and Rhineland. He was one of the first soldiers to secure the “Eagles Nest”-Hitler’s last stronghold. He was wounded in Monte Cassino, Italy and received the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Morris also received the American Defense Service Ribbon, EAME Service Ribbon, two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Medal, and the Croix de Guerre E. Palm Orders of Day 1st French.

Mr. Fulmer took pride in cooking for his family, including the neighborhood cats. He showed special kindness to the homeless and often assisted them. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Surviving family members include daughters: Brenda A. Nickel, (David Sr), Nancy S. Fulmer; son: Gregory L, Fulmer (Joyce); and two grand children: David L. Nickel, Jr., and Elaina R. Nickel. Mr. Fulmer was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Betty J. Fulmer; two sons: the late Michael L. Fulmer, the late Daniel L. Fulmer; and a granddaughter: the late Jessica Lynn Fulmer.

A private graveside military service will be held Friday, August 12, 2011 at Westover Memorial Park.
