Mrs. Patricia Martin Casey
Augusta, GA -Mrs. Patricia Martin Casey, 75, of Augusta entered into rest on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at her residence. She was surrounded by her family throughout the Thanksgiving weekend. A Vigil service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 7:30 pm at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with the Reverend Gerald Ragan officiating, and interment following in Westover Memorial Park. The family will then welcome friends at 5 Conifer Square, Augusta GA, 30909.
Mrs. Casey was born in 1937 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Martin of Atlanta, Georgia. She attended The University of Georgia on an Academic scholarship and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. While at UGA, she met and married her best friend and love of her life, Julian Vaughan “Sonny” Casey of Augusta. Pat and Sonny enjoyed 54 years of marriage while sharing their special love with their five children.
She is survived by her daughters Cathy C. Bentley (Bobby), Terri C. Snead (Derek), both of Augusta, Erin C. McGee (Terry) of Jacksonville, Florida, Karen C. Gentile (Keith) of Sumter, South Carolina and her son, Richard M. “Dick” Casey (Shay) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Grandchildren, Reed (Cassidy) Bentley, Brett Bentley, Megan Snead Goldberg (Adam), Austin, Tyler and Marshall Snead, Matt and Molly McGee, Josh Gentile, Doyle and Anna Casey. Great grandchild Casey Vaughan Bentley. She is also survived by sister in law, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Casey of Augusta. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Pat was preceded in death by her loving spouse Julian Vaughan “Sonny” Casey in January of this year, her parents Dudley and Lorraine Martin, a stepfather Crawford Meaders, a sister Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones, and a beloved grand-daughter Casey Marie Bentley.
Pat was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, The Hillside Garden Club, The Augusta Country Club, The Irish American Heritage Society and Wild Dunes Country Club. Pat was an avid snow skier, tennis player, and accomplished pianist. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her wonderful caregivers; Sally Crouch, Sandra Lewis, and Sherri Allison who provided great assistance and comfort in our Mother’s last days.
