Mrs. Virginia W. Norvell

Virginia Battey Wilcox Norvell of Augusta, GA, died on January 5 at her residence.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday January 9, in Westover Memorial Park with Dr. R. Leslie Holmes officiating. Visitation will held on Tuesday January 8th from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Home, 214 Davis Road.

Mrs. Norvell was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Battey Wilcox. She is survived by her three children, Jennifer N. Farrell (Rick) of Washington, D.C., James F. Norvell, Jr. (Jacinda) of Augusta and Frank W. Norvell (Mallory) of Charleston, S.C.; her sisters, Mrs. Robin B. H. Braithwaite and Mrs. F. Lansing Lee, III, her brother-in-law Lansing Lee and numerous nieces and nephews; and her six grandchildren, Connor Farrell, Elizabeth Farrell, Katherine Norvell, Sarah Norvell, Wilcox Norvell and Gray Norvell.

Mrs. Norvell was born on April 7, 1937 in Augusta. She attended Tubman High School and later the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

A longstanding and active member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, Mrs.
Norvell served as President of the Women of the Church, an Elder, choir member, and on numerous church committees. She was also a founding member of F.A.I.T.H., a community interfaith organization. Her friends knew her to be an avid golf spectator and spirited Atlanta Braves fan.
