Nancy Kerrigan Lortscher
Grovetown, GA- Nancy Kerrigan Lortscher expired on Sunday, January 9, 2011. She was born in Boston, MA on 29 August, 1929, daughter of the late John F. Kerrigan and Marie MacDonnell. She was the widow of Lawrence L. Lortscher and leaves one daughter, Sister Karen Ann Lortscher, OSB, of Sacred Heart Monastery, Cullman, Alabama.
Nancy attended St. Augustine’s High School and Katharine Gibbs Junior College, Boston, MA. In 1974 she attended DeKalb College, Atlanta and was certified as an EMT. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for companies in Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; and Atlanta, GA. She entered Civil Service and worked as a Supply Clerk at Dwight David Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Gordon and then for Pan Am World Services and Johnson Controls until her retirement in 1996. After she retired, she was a volunteer at Doctor’s Hospital working in the Emergency Room.
She is survived also by her sisters: Marie Kerrigan, Edith Ratcliffe; and a brother James Kerrigan. Another brother, William Kerrigan, preceded her in death. Nancy leaves numerous nieces and nephews residing in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Washington, DC. Nancy enjoyed reading, ceramics, researching her family tree and compiled a history of the Kerrigan/MacDonnell family.
A Mass and burial will be held at Sacred Heart Monastery, Cullman, Alabama. There will be no services or viewing in Augusta.
