Naomi Morris Erb
Appling, GA – Naomi Lillian Morris Erb left her earthly home on June 9, 2012. Born in Augusta, Georgia on November 11, 1935, she was preceded in death by her parents, Louie Morris, Sr., and Robbie Walton Morris, and by her husband of 56 years, Henry John Erb. “Grandma” is survived by her children, Michael J. Erb and wife, Susan, of Appling, Ga.; Roger A. Erb and wife, Yvonne, of Martinez, Ga.; Deborah E. Coggins and husband, Larry, of Grovetown, Ga.; her brother, Lou Morris and wife, Mary, of Fayetteville, Tenn.; and by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren..
Grandma knew from the moment she met her tall, handsome soldier on a blind date that she would be his for life, and we know he walked her through Heaven’s glorious gates to see her Lord face-to-face. She will be missed for her gardening advice, her biscuits and blackberries, watermelon rind preserves, Hawaiian wedding and fruit cakes. Every Friday night was “pie night” at Grandmas.
Regardless of her many cooking accomplishments, Naomi believed that her purpose on this earth was to insure that every person she met, young or old, family or friend, and even total stranger, had an opportunity to know “her Jesus”. So very many of us do and we promise to carry on her work. In her last days, Grandma was teaching her great-grandchildren the Prayer of Protection: “The light of God surrounds me, the love of God enfolds me, the power of God protects me, the presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is.”
The family wishes to especially acknowledge the friendship shown to our mother by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Price (Barbara) and family. Grandma loved each of you without measure and we thank you for each kindness shown.
At her request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Correspondences may be sent to the Erb family at P.O. Box 547, Appling, Georgia, 30802. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 1190 Interstate Parkway, Augusta, Georgia 30909.
“Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:30-31.
