Evans, GA – Nettie L. James, age 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 23, 2017. Nettie was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She attended First Freewill Baptist Church. She loved “Life” and especially loved her family. Nettie was affectionately called “Nanner” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nettie had four children, Cecil James, Susan Smith (Ben), Diane Shearer (Robert) and Debbie Chassereau (Bill); grandchildren: Robbie Shearer (Jean), Stephanie Cheshire, Lisa Shearer Williams (Jimmy), Melissa Barton and Jennifer Luttrell (Adam); great grandchildren: Courtney Shearer Stokes (Kevin), Evan Shearer, Morgan Williams, Garrett Gordon, Trey Williams, Easton Shearer, Addie Mae Williams, Claire Cheshire, Luke Luttrell and Weston Luttrell; and her beloved great granddog Maddy. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Cecil James (1983) of 35 years. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son-in-law, Robert Shearer Sr. and her beloved granddaughter, Lisa Shearer Williams.
A funeral service will be Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Floyd Harrison and Pastor Benny Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909.
