Ms. Odessa Hatfield

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, November 28, 2010, Ms. Odessa Hatfield, 79, daughter of the late George Hatfield and the late Viola Hatfield of Martinez.

Ms. Hatfield was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. She was a graduate of Evans High School and continued her education at Bob Jones University and Augusta College. Ms. Hatfield was a licensed hearing aid specialist and worked for Belltone Hearing Aid for many years. She opened her own business, Hearing Aid Sales and Service, in March of 1987 serving many in the community until her retirement in April 2002. After retiring she joined the Augusta Citizens Corp. as a Senior Companion Volunteer at St. John Towers. Ms. Hatfield was a devoted member of The Hill Baptist Church where she served on several committees and taught the Faith Bible Class for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.

Family members include her nieces and nephews: Angela Temple (Stan), Ginger O’Connell Webb (Mike), Cindy Weathersbee (Don), Hugh A. Fuller, the late Noel Long and the late Stan Fuller, all of the Augusta area; great nephews: Gabe Weathersbee, Joey Weathersbee (Jenny) and their son Jacob of Evans; sisters: the late Doris H. Long (the late James) of Augusta, the late Edith H. Fuller (Hugh Fuller) of Evans.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Fred Gunter officiating.
