Opal Collins Swearingen
Augusta, GA – Opal Collins Swearingen, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Doctors Hospital.
Opal was a native of McBean, GA and a member of Windsor Heights Baptist Church. She was also a former member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in McBean, GA. Opal loved her family especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Patricia James and husband, Buddy, of Augusta, Sharon Davis and her husband, Robert, of Martinez and Gary Swearingen of Augusta; sisters: Margie Murphey and June Babb of McBean; brother: H.I. “Irvin” Collins, Jr. and wife, Carol, of McBean; grandchildren: Tara Moreno of Evans, Dustin Woods of Augusta, Summer Swearingen of Augusta, Ryan Davis of Rock Hill, SC, Katie Lewis of Martinez and Austin Swearingen of Augusta; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Swearingen, and her sisters, Grace Saxon and Vera Rabun.
A funeral service will be Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Roland Galloway officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sidney Saxon, John Saxon, Marvin Murphey, Bryan Saxon, Michael Rabun and Scott Uzpurvis.
