Otis Washington Mobley
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, November 9, 2014, Otis Washington Mobley, 89, husband of Ruth Bauguss Mobley.
Mr. Mobley was a native of Girard, GA in Burke County but lived in Augusta, GA. He graduated in 1942 from Waynesboro High School. He served in the United States Army in North Africa and Italy from 1943-1946. Mr. Mobley graduated from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) in 1950. He married Ruth Bauguss Mobley in 1950 with whom he spent 64 years of his life. He retired after 30 years of service from the Georgia Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Family members include son: James B. Mobley (Cheryl); daughters: Jane Mobley Flanders (Doug) and Carol Mobley DeLoach Capers (Greg); grandchildren: Anne DeLoach Nelson (Matt), James DeLoach (Leigh), Joseph DeLoach (Maggie), Leigh Flanders, David Flanders, Margaret Mobley-Meulman (Colin) and Heather Powell Guilfoyle (Mark); six great grandchildren; four nieces and five nephews; and a sister-in-law: Burdelle Mobley. Mr. Mobley was preceded in death by his parents: James Carson and Beulah Bailey Mobley; brothers: Malcolm J. Mobley, Sr. and Herbert W. Mobley; sisters: Eleanor Mobley, Sara Mobley McNair Dasher and Mary Mobley Fleming; nephew: Malcolm J. Mobley. Jr. and daughter-in-law: Elaine Brannen Mobley.
A memorial service will be held this morning at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Matthew Nelson officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at 4115 Columbia Road Suite 5-333, Martinez, GA 30907-0410 or to the CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group at P.O. Box 3485, Augusta, GA 30914.
