Mr. Ovanlie (Van) Fowler

Martinez, GA - Mr. Van Fowler, age 90, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, of Old Petersburg Road in Martinez, GA, peacefully passed away Friday, May 31 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA.

Mr. Fowler was born in White County, TN on January 10th 1923 to the late Everett Dillard Fowler and Nancy Cordelia Sherrill.

He married Beulah Lee Rich on May 1st, 1942. He was blessed with five children. He proudly served his country in World War II. After years of farming in Tennessee; he later was employed with Ford Motor Company in Michigan. After retirement in 1986 he moved to Martinez GA. All who knew him enjoyed his wit, humor, and smile. He enjoyed communicating regularly with all his friends and family in Tennessee.

Survivors include James Robert Fowler (Linda) of Martinez, GA, Doris Ellen Fowler of Cookeville, TN, Randal Floyd Fowler (Carolyn) of Evans, GA, Carole Ann Fowler of Martinez, GA, and David Glenn Fowler. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be; Steve Fowler (Red), Ronnie Jagnandan, Billy Maynard, Cody Hampton, Chad Cheek, Ryan Graham, and Landon Cheek. Robert Wayne Young will be officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta, TN, (931) 738-8549. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home; followed by burial at Elrod Cemetery.
