Augusta, GA – Mr. P. Harold Bateman, 89, entered into rest Monday, June 6, 2011 at University Hospital.
Mr. Bateman was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. He retired after 25 years of service from the Georgia Railroad. While working with the railroad he founded Bateman Marine Service. He loved boats and in his younger days he raced hydroplanes. Many years later he raced tunnel boats.
Family members include, daughters: Teresa Slay (Tommy), Jackie Williamson (Oliver), Robin Lamkin (Wally), Susan Bateman; son, Donald Bateman (Carol); 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 6 – 8pm at Thomas Poteet and Son. A memorial service will be private at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Westwood and 7 West at University Hospital for their care and a special thanks to his friends, Martha and Bill.
