Patricia Callahan, 64, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009. She was born at the Chelsea Naval Hospital in Chelsea, MA to Bernice and Charles Langmaack, and raised her three children in Western Massachusetts.

Ms. Callahan spent her life as a career nurse dedicated to the wellness and care of others. After receiving her nursing degree in 1964, she earned a B.A. in Russian Literature from Smith College. She also received her MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work in 1984. Additionally, she went on to earn her masters in Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. An avid reader and admirer of the arts, she will be remembered for her loving heart and compassion. She was working as a hospice nurse for United Hospice at the time of her death.

Surviving family members include her parents: Bernice and Charles Langmaack of Tampa; sisters: Kathleen Martens, Mary Jo O’Donovan and Carol Brown, all from Pleasanton, CA; brothers: Jack Langmaack and Bob Langmaack, both of Tampa; children: Elizabeth Hollan of Piscataway, NJ, Jennifer Holsten of Hallowell, ME, Steven Holsten Jr. of Augusta, GA and grandchildren: Jessica Dussault, Ryan Hollan, Connor Hollan, Mathew Hollan, Nicholas Holsten and Samantha Holsten.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Talmadge Bowden officiating.
