Augusta, GA – Mrs. Patsy Spivey, 77, of Augusta passed on Friday, August 5, 2011 surrounded in love by her family.

Mrs. Spivey is remembered as a teacher of life and love. She was with the Board of Education for 22 years as a teacher and then an elementary assistant principal at Bayvale, Barton Chapel, Craig and Hornsby schools. She was a devoted sports fan with a life long love of the Atlanta Braves. Throughout her life she demonstrated wisdom and courage with a great sense of adventure. To all she beat at board games cards and crossword puzzles, she would just smile that beautiful smile. Most admired was her quiet elegance and deep unwavering love for her family and friends.

Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Walter P. Spivey; parents James and Lucile Myers, Sr.; brother James Myers, Jr.

She is survived by her loving family; sister, Jeanne Crawford of Lumber City, GA,
daughters, Patrice (Steven) Branch of Evans, GA, Sheri (David) Ellis of Tampa FL, Amy (Henry) Mealing of Evans, GA, son: Toby Spivey and Lisa Spivey of Harlem, GA, grandchildren: Shannon (Nick) Gladd, Brian (Therese) Rhodes, Scott (Ryan) Rhodes, Daniel and Samantha Mealing all of Augusta, GA, Connor and Kate Ellis of Tampa, FL, Brandon and Dylan Spivey of Harlem, GA, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She had many dear friends including James Jameson, Irene Shore and Gerry Doss.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8 at 10:00 A.M. at Pine View Baptist Church, 119 Pleasant Home Road, Augusta with Dr. Michael L. Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
