Paul A. Long

Paul A. Long, 86, husband of 61 years to Betty J. Long, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Mr. Long was a native of Spring Mills, PA but lived in Augusta since 1960. He retired from Deerfield Paper Mill as Foreman and from the V.A. Medical Center as Maintenance Foreman. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church; he was a teacher and past president of the Damren Sunday School Class. Mr. Long was a member of the Richmond County Senior Citizens Softball Team, and the Forest Hills Seniors Golf Association. Paul was a devoted husband and father who dearly loved his grandchildren, the Lord, and playing golf.

Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter, Paulette Long and her husband, Chris Knopp; son, Dr. Michael H. Long and his wife, Terri; grandchildren: Amy (Marshall) Howard, Andrew (Katie) Long & Taylor Long; great grandchildren: Anslee & Adelle Long, Kai & Kellan Paul Howard.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Floyd O’Neal, Jack Wilson, Alan Rogers, Andrew Long, Taylor Long, and Chris Knopp. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Damren Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church at 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
